"This is a monochromatic close-up portrait of the post-modern persona. He’s painted white, with dramatic black makeup, and a pattern of small black spots covering his hands and adorning his face. His extra-long eyelashes reach forward, out of the plane of the hologram and into the viewer’s space."
This is one of the most well-known holographic celebrity portraits ever recorded and made available for public display and sale. The fully dimensional hologram has been exhibited worldwide in museums and art galleries since 1985, receiving acclaim by both the technical and artistic communities.
Each hologram was individually copied onto a laboratory grade glass plate coated with an ultra-high resolution, photosensitive emulsion in a (1980s) state-of-the art holography studio. " ... transferred from pulsed ruby laser master using a 50mW He-Ne laser, size 50×60 cm portrait. "
Until recently, this was the lowest-number edition that was available for sale in the world, according to the original owner. Note - The photo above shows this hologram it its protective plastic wrapper.
This matted copy was displayed in a holography gallery before being stored for over two decades by the first owner. Note - The photo above shows one of many views of the 3D image.
(Photos without reflections available.)
Because a lot of color control experiments were being conducted at the time, the seller believes the gold tone is original and intentional. Note - Photo above is a close-up shot of the larger image.
